                                            WHAT WE DO

                                                                                                                         Strategic Decisions & Partnerships is a global strategy firm, who established a non-profit 501(c) (3) organization, with a program of giving in 2006. SDPUS works with many educational institutions, businesses and governmental organizations- from North, South & Central America. SDPUS helps align and achieve clients with their objectives to help improve overall efficiency, as well as the organizations financial returns. We work to grow and enhance relationships amongst the key stakeholders in Costa Rica. SDPUS will strive to meet all the needs of our clients, by providing local expertise, insight, innovation and integrity.  

SDPUS' Objectives in Costa Rica are not only educationally based, but rather we also focus local efforts on sustainable tourism methods- to help further grow important relationship amongst Costa Ricans. These ventures help in achieving our overall goal of creating, implementing and facilitating our educational initiatives. 

By working with rural and often impoverished Costa Rican communities, we're able to help foster the local support that is so very necessary in creating effective community based programs. We work with community leaders to create a cost benefit analysis of local needs.  We then set out to garner the international support that is needed. The result is a true win-win scenario, for all the stakeholders involved who are involved in the process, both locally and visitors from abroad!

SDPUS SUSTAINABLE TOURISM OBJECTIVES:                                  Providing policy advice on the development of Responsible Tourism in Costa Rica
Facilitating the continued education of the Costa Rican masses
Monitoring industry trends and opportunities
Maximizing the economic benefits of the educational industry to the local community through the use of tourism as a means of building the local economy by building linkages that support those directly involved
Bringing local producers of goods and services into the supply chain
Building links with local farmers and hotels to use locally produced farm items on their menus and in day to day services to tourists
Ensuring the employment of local staff and their eventual training and advancement in the developing economy                                   Ensuring the involvement of local people and products in tours, packages and excursions, while paying them fair prices for superior products, crafts and services.
SDPUS is supporting the local economy by encouraging the locals and tourists to purchase locally produced items as much as possible, since this is where the greatest impact will eventually be
Supporting the building of local neighborhood partnerships between associations, groups, NGOs, CBOs, villages and districts                                                                Supporting any initiatives that help to enrich each destination, boost local communities, reduce negative experiences of our visiting tourists, reduce negative impacts and foster economy of scales in making new ventures possible
Developing proper management of internal changes as local linkages are developed
Ensuring the avoidance of pitfalls of other destinations through consultation, monitoring and pre-designed corrective measures 
Ensuring the full and complete management of social-cultural impacts;
Monitoring the minimization of negative environmental impacts
Organizing symposiums and conferences on the issues confronting Costa Rica
Undertaking research & consultancy projects in Costa Rica & the immediate region
Advocating change and encouraging stakeholders- government, the private sector in Costa Rica and in nearby markets, conservation organizations, travelers and local communities- to “take responsibility for achieving sustainable tourism, and creating better places for people to live in and for people to visit.”

SDPUS is a fully capable and prepared non-profit entity committed to rendering consultancy to educational institutions, home stays, hotels, resorts, tour operators, business houses and government departments. SDPUS draws expertise from a well trained cadre of professionals in their fields, while utilizing external linkages from other local resources to facilitate a state of the art evaluation to any client, for any variety of business needing the professional service and expertise within Costa Rica. 

 The "CR Sustainable Tourism Index" that SDPUS is attempting to create, will help reassure visitors, that they are choosing responsible vacations in Costa Rica, while also contributing to the overall SDPUS global initiative of improving education and environmental conservation for the long term social well-being of Costa Ricans and people everywhere! 

SDPUS will initiate a strategy to help your organization to develop the integral part in its initial definition, and then in creating and implementing the entire mission in Costa Rica. SDPUS will do the difficult work of cross checking, verifying and quantifying the benefits and outcomes of your CR initiatives. SDPUS will help guide your organization, as you  evolve during the production of creating responsible policies.

SDPUS is also working to develop a very important and useful tool in Costa Rica, to help visiting people find the "sustainable" tourism destinations of Costa Rica. It will eventually be known as the “Costa Rican Sustainable Tourism Index”. This will be a database of like-minded responsible tourism businesses in Costa Rica, who have undergone a very stringent level of independent verification, to ascertain that they are indeed developing and adhering to responsible tourism standards. SDPUS will continuously monitor all participating organizations, and on a regular basis- ensuring total compliance, with all the established benchmarks in our “Costa Rican Sustainable Tourism Index”.

Our belief is that these global initiatives can best be achieved through the vigorous implementation of these various community based projects, that help bridge together various collaborating professionals, visiting tourists and the local Costa Rica community.
