                           Green ZONES Quests

Our Quests are interactive adventure learning projects that will engage students in exploration of the world around them. Each year, we travel to a different Green Zone      for three weeks to identify common threads in lifestyles, diet, outlook and stress-   coping mechanisms found in the world. Students learn with us as they direct our      team in the field that is unlocking differing cultures education secrets-real secrets          in real time.

Our next three-week interactive adventure to discover the true fountain of youth begins    in January, 2011.

Why should I use the Green Zones program with my students?

Peter F Fiorentino and his Network Partners are pioneers in online, interactive learning. SDPUS brings a proven track record of developing engaging opportunities that compel students to apply and practice a wide variety of skills across many learning disciplines. We believe when kids are challenged and put in control of their learning environment,  they learn and retain more. More importantly, this model of teaching has been proven    to enhance critical thinking skills and improve test scores.

Our goal is to give your students the knowledge, skills, and attitudes for academic success now and to a vital old age. We also understand the multiple priorities and conflicting interests that compete for your time and your students' attention. All of our free, ready to-go classroom activities require minimal preparation, are flexible to fit any amount of time you have in your schedule, and correlate with national standards in Language Arts, Math, Geography, Science and Health. We're confident we'll attain our goal while providing you with phenomenal opportunities to teach your students.

How do I use Green Zones?

Our program is broad and provides many opportunities for research and application of basic skills. Consider starting with just the Quest and maybe one of the Challenges. Each of these modules can be used with your students for as little as 10-15 minutes a week, or as a longer thematic or interdisciplinary unit. As your school year unfolds and you become more familiar with our program, consider adding other modules. All of our learning activities are designed to complement common curricula and correlate with national academic standards in Reading, Writing, Math, Geography, Science and Health.

When is the best time to teach with the Green Zones program?

Each Green Zones module may be used when it best fits your schedule. However you should plan to devote at least 15 minutes, several times a week in January / February,   to make the most of the interactive features provided during the live Quest. The rest of   the program modules can be taught at any time throughout the year.

Who produces the Green Zones program?

Green Zones is a production of Strategic Decisions & Partnerships. Our team is advised by the world's leading experts from a variety of disciplines. We are guided by a group of creative, passionate, forward-thinking teachers and administrators.

                                                                                                                      CULTURAL LEGACY PROJECT

The Cultural Legacy Project has two significant components. First, it provides the opportunity for kids to interact with someone from a different cultural generation to learn more about the meaning and importance of cultural legacy—both on an individual level and generational level. Second, it provides the opportunity for kids to be involved with real scientific research by sharing their findings through this Web site with professors from Universities around the world.

The Cultural Legacy Project empowers students to identify and interview "cultural seniors" in various Latin American communities. This project will help students discover the behavioral practices that contribute to healthier and more culturally educated lives. We expect that the “cultural seniors” will pass on wisdom to the younger generation to follow and emulate.

To assist with this Project, we've chosen to utilize the Big6™ Information Problem-Solving Skills. With this approach, students will identify varying Latin American cultures, with people 75 years of age or older. Students will make interview questions to ask these "cultural seniors" and then will receive engaging feedback on their lifestyle ways.

While students gather useful data, they are indirectly gaining an appreciation of elders from various cultures in the world. This project will positively influence students' views towards global awareness, cultural differences and the aging process.
